The White Feather is a musical drama set in and after the Great War.

Georgina Briggs’ brother was one of over 300 allied soldiers executed for cowardice during the First World War. She won’t accept the shame and she won’t let it lie. But as she fights for justice a shocking discovery awaits her.

The White Feather is a development of a piece previously known as Shot at Dawn, with the help of award-winning director Andrew Keates, additional songs and music by Matthew Strachan and music arrangement by Dustin Conrad. It received its world premiere at the Union Theatre, Southwark, between 16 September and 17 October 2015

As Shot at Dawn, it had its its first showcase performances at the Etcetera Theatre, Camden Town, London, in November 2012, directed by Matthew Gould. It then had its first full production run at the Gatehouse, Highgate, and the Mumford Theatre, Cambridge in July 2014, also directed by Matthew. The production was praised:

"With a minimum of props and a piano, nine actors manage to captivate and draw in the audience. How? Through the emotional charge generated by the words and music. It’s an evening that leaves you surreptitiously reaching for a handkerchief.

Highly recommended…."

Liz Anderson, The Spectator Culture House

The script and songs of Shot at Dawn were written by Ross Clark, an award-winning journalist who writes for the Times, the Spectator and several other British national newspapers. For five years he was the main leader writer under Boris Johnson on the Spectator. He is the author of several books including How to Label a Goat: the silly rules and regulations that are strangling Britain, and The Great Before, a satirical novel set in a post-industrial future. Ross is a member of Mercury Musical Developments, with whom he has been developing Shot at Dawn, his first musical.

The music was arranged by Martin Coslett and Jonathan Dodd.

Martin Coslett's works include Dawn of the New Age -- the Magna Carta Musical, and The H Incident (for the War of the Worlds festival, Woking). He is currently working, with Ross Clark, on The Perfect City, a musical about the life of William Penn which was performed at the Etcetera Theatre in March 2013.

The Perfect City was on tour in May 2014
